Filler Pre and Post Care
For your safety, please review these treatment area guidelines before your appointment.
- Do not receive dental procedures, vaccinations, microneedling, laser treatments, or chemical peels
- Discontinue antibiotics for 2 weeks before treatment
- Avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, and other medications or supplements with a blood-thinning effect
- Discontinue prescription retinoids (i.e., tretinoin/Retin-A)
- Hydration is key! Drink a lot of water in the days before your appointment
- Avoid alcohol consumption for 48 hours
- Discontinue cosmetic retinoids, acne treatments, or chemical exfoliants (AHA/BHA) for 48 hours
- Make sure to eat a meal or snack before your appointment.
- Arrive at your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin
- Complete forms and get cleared for treatment as early as possible
- Do not come in if experiencing an active infection or blemishes in the treatment area
- Avoid lying down or leaning forward for 4 hours after treatment
- Avoid tight headbands or sleeping masks that press on the treated area for 4 hours
- Keep the treatment area clean with gentle cleansing products
- Avoid makeup for 24 hours
- Sleep on your back with your head elevated to prevent swelling
- Do not touch or rub the injected site for 24 hours following treatment
- Limit alcohol consumption for 24 hours post-treatment
- Use a cold pack to soothe the area if necessary
- Avoid intense exercise, hot tubs, saunas, and hot environments for 24-48 hours after treatment
- Lip filler: Avoid drinking from straws for 48 hours after your treatment
- Do not receive facials, laser procedures, chemical peels, massages, or dental procedures for two weeks following treatment
- Please report unusual or severe symptoms to your provider (excessive swelling, vision changes, difficulty swallowing or breathing)

Fillers are not recommended if you are under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding, have a neurological condition, or are allergic to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine. You should reschedule if you have an active infection or inflammation at the injection site, or if you've recently used skin-sensitizing ingredients, antibiotics, or blood-thinning medications. Your nurse will review all of this during your medical clearance consultation.
